I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the 2010 football season at Carson High School. As we begin year three of my program I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our coaches, players, parents, and supporters who have worked so hard in the past two years to build new traditions and strengthen old ones. I have been very fortunate in my career to work with many outstanding people. This past year has been no exception as we look forward to a successful 2010 season.
In 2010 our football players are truly blessed with a coaching staff of outstanding people who will not only successfully direct them on the field but help mold outstanding character in each player. Jim Franz, a CHS Football Hall of Famer, will coordinate our defense in 2010. On the varsity & junior varsity staff we will be joined by Pat Houlihan, Jim D'Arrieta, Steve Dilley, Shane Quilling, Bob Bateman, Paul Carter, Kiko Vega, and Shelby Tuttle. Our Head Freshman Coach is longtime Carson assistant and former Sparks and Incline High Head Coach, Billy McHenry. He will be assisted by former CHS players Scott Witter, Nathan White, and AJ Jolcolver, as well as CHS teacher Will Houk. Finally, and just as important, our film coordinator Jim Bean, who spends many hours filming and editing our games and practices will play a key role for the coaching staff behind the scenes.
We are extremely excited about our team this year. We return 10 starters from our League Championship season in 2009. We expect tremendous senior leadership from this group to lead a talented pool of underclassmen. We expect to suit up approximately 45 to 50 varsity players this season and continue to attract new players to the program. We are all working hard to build a family atmosphere throughout all three levels of our program. Carson Football is fortunate to have fine young men participating who have committed to many hours of off-season lifting, conditioning, and practice to prepare for the season. As the head coach I could not ask for a better attitude and level of commitment than I have received from these student-athletes. We ask two main things from our players; to "buy in" and "be coachable". We feel we are accomplishing both of these key ingredients going into the season.
Our schedule and competition this season will be outstanding week in and week out. Our first non-league game will pit the Senators against a truly outstanding program from Sacramento, Del Campo High School. In addition, our league will again be extremely competitive this season and we look forward to competing against the Carson Senator's biggest rivals, Douglas High School. Like I have stated from the beginning, our ultimate goal in this program is for Carson Football to be a source of pride at our school and in our community. We plan on being a program this season, and in the future that our school and community will support with pride. Thank you for supporting and contributing to the success of Carson Football.
Go Senators!
